St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika), Budapest

Isn’t it breathtaking? Beautiful structure! The ceilings, walls, columns, floors, every little detail is gorgeous, very rich in artwork! The high altar sculpture is from Carrara marble. The cupola is 315-foot high.

The Basilica was built between 1851 and 1905 in neo-Renaissance-Classicist style and it is the largest church in Budapest. The plans were made by Jozsef Hild, and the construction started in 1851 based on his plans. After his death Miklos Ybl continued the construction, what later Jozsef Krauser completed. The church accommodates 8500 people.
